Biography

He started his darting career in 1987 as a young schoolboy, at Goedemoed Dart Club, playing only in local competitions. He had a four year break from darts from1991 to 1995 when he started as a Correctional Officer.

In 1995, he started playing again and made the Correctional Services team in 1997.

In 1999, he was the singles Champ of the Correctional Service Nationals, and runner up in the Doubles Competition. In that same year he was selected to represent Free State at the DSA National Championships. Corne played for Free State from 1999 till 2006.

In 2009, he was selected to represent the Department of Correctional Service at the Police and Fire Games in Vancouver Canada.

He joined SAPDO in January 2013, played Gauteng, Free State and Western Cape Classic. A memorable 4-2 victory at the Western Cape Classic against Charl Pietersen secured him a spot in the top 16 playoffs, where he lost to Warrick Scheffer. Unfortunately, he had a very bad SA PDC Masters tournament not making it out of the group stages.

2014 season has been a great start for Corne as he managed a top 8 spot at the Correctional Service National Singles Competition and won the Doubles Competition with his partner.

He also crowned the SAPDO Regional Champion 2014 after beating Eddie Pillay 6-4 in Kimberly.
