PDC Q- School joy for Charl Pietersen
Charl has made history by hitting the first 9 DARTER at the PDC Q-Schools. What a time to hit your first 9 Darter in an official match. He stepped up the achievement of Devon Petersen by qualifying on the first day and topped it off with a brilliant 9 DARTER! Charl won his two year Pro Tour Card and will be competing against the best in the world. He will face the likes of Phil Taylor, Raymond van Barneveld, Gary Anderson, James Wade, Adrian Lewis and Simon Whitlock to name a few.
Charl came from 3-0 down, hit a 9 Darter and took the game 6-5. He achieved this against Kevin "SuperMc” McDine, one of the stars of the PDC. Charl decided to join SAPDO and stay with SAPDO, even though being tempted back to the amateur body. He knew the opportunities at SAPDO were by far greater, which he proved by his fantastic and historic achievement. This is what we all wanted for professionals in South Africa, to break the proverbial ceilings and rise to new heights. Charl has now set the bar higher for SAPDO and South Africa. With the talent emerging daily we expect players to be raising the bar as they attempt to make it big on the professional stage.
Well Done! Charl you have given the entire nation goose bumps like your predecessors. You are the talk of our DARTING Nation and we expect you to break new ground for professionals and SAPDO on your journey to the top.
Let us not forget the inputs and guidance from his uncle, Gavin Kulsen. Gavin has groomed and managed Charl from a young age and is always by his side giving him valuable advice and inspiration. Gavin we are proud of your achievements and dedication to the sport. SAPDO spoke to Gavin after Charl's history making achievement. He mentioned he is not done yet, and his son Damien Kulsen is the next darter from South Africa to rewrite the history books. We don't doubt you and we await the next talent coming from your stable.
SAPDO's Hugo Deysel is also attempting to qualify and we wish him the best of luck. You can do it Hugo! There is still one more day left, so make some SA noise in the house.
DSA's Roxy Iyer is also competing and we wish him well on his attempt to qualify for a tour card at the PDC's Q-School.
Shawn Hogan is not competing for a PDC Tour Card this year. Shawn will partner Charl Pietersen, representing South Africa at the PDC World Cup in Hamburg this February. Good luck Shawn and keep our flag flying proudly.
