KIMBERLEY DARTS OPEN
All roads in Kimberley will be leading to Hofe Park on 28 and 29 November where the top dart players in South Africa will be competing in the Kimberley Darts Open. The tournament will commence on Saturday at 11:00. The Open Singles, Ladies Singles, Masters Singles and Pairs Competitions Round Robin will be played on Saturday.
The elimination phase of these competitions will be played on Sunday morning commencing at 09:00. Finals will start at 15:00 on the stage which will include the local singles final between Francois du Preez and Eddie Pillay. The tournament organiser Mr Eddie Pillay expects at least forty competitors from Kimberley and twenty from the rest of the country.
The main attraction will be the recent SA PDC Masters champion Warrick “The Rooster” Scheffer (23) who will represent South Africa at the World Championship to be held in England during December 2015. This will be his last opportunity to showcase his talent before the Championship.
He annexed the Cape Town Classic two weeks ago and the Kimberley residents will be privileged to see this player of note on their shores. His main opposition will come from Graham Filby, Nolan Arendse, Charles Losper and recently crowned Cape Town Classic Masters Champion Cliffie Stradling.
Local players Francois Du Preez and Eddie Pillay can upset the more fancied players on their home ground. Local support for these players can carry them to greater heights. In the Masters for players fifty years and older Cliffie Stradling and Richard Oliver seem to be the outright favourites. Local player Neville Petersen can upstage them and walk away with this title. Heila Peine and Cammy Nagel of Kimberley are the outright favourites to walk away with the Ladies title.
