DEVON PETERSEN won the First Western Cape Regional Ranking Tournament title 2014 with an courageous showing to claim victory in Cape Town on Wednesday night.
Petersen secured his place in the last 16 tournament ranked no 1 as he won both qualifier tournaments played earlier this month.
The current SA masters champion was in stunning form throughout the night. Petersen opened the night as he whitewashed Donovan February 6-0, and then overcame Gary Dowman 6-1 (QF) and Nolan Arendse 6-4 (SF) before coming from behind against Clifford Stradling to win 6-5 finals.
Clifford Stradling's run to the final saw him overcoming Chezlin Daniels 6-1, before overcoming Earl Pentolfe 6-3(QF) and Charles Losper 6-2 (SF). Clifford sealed the victory against Losper with a stunnig 11 darter.
In the final unfortunate misses at tops for a 160 and 151 for Stradling, would of seen him lead the match by 3 clear legs. The decider leg was just as unlucky for him as a failed attempt at 44, gave Petersen the opportunity to close a 111 check out on double 16 for the match.
